Max at Camp!
Max is 15 months old. He has been at camp for 5 weeks. Max loves camp! He waves to everyone as we walk through camp, he smiles at anyone that looks his way, and he talks to all that stop. He has made friends with many of the staff members and have special greeting for them: Molly gets a one finger wave, Vicki gets two hands up in the air (V for Vicki) and Pat gets very excited conversations. Max is having a great time at camp.

1 Year Old!
Max is one! It is very exciting. When asked how old he is he will show that he is one by holding up his left hand with one finger. We celebrated with Gamie, Uncle Blake, Uncle Chase, Aunt Susan, Cousin Tyler, Great Aunt Kathy and Great-Great Aunt Rosalie. He marked his first birthday by adding two more animal sounds to his vocabulary. When reading his favorite book he makes cow sounds, quacks like a duck, oinks for the pigs pictures, and neighs with the horses. He laughs a great deal while making animal sounds.

Words - Words - Words
Max is 11 months old and talking up a storm. This month he has added - Cookie (in reference to his Cookie Monster toy), Doggie and Nana (banana) to his vocabulary. We are continuing to sign to him - but he seems to be skipping the sign language and going straight for the language. He now has a vocabulary of 9 words: Mama, Daddy, Doggie, Cookie, Good, Hi, Nana, Baby, and (according to Evan) Hey Dude!

We have had a very exciting month. Max took his first trip to Southern California. We went to Stacey and Frank Arballo. Stacey took us to Downtown Disney. Max ate his first french fry - Oh Boy did he love it! We also went to see the wildflowers with the Fresno Kayak club.
11 months and ready for fun!

10 Month Ode to The Peter Carruths
Max spent his ten month birthday visiting his Sacramento Cousins - the Peter Carruth Families. Max watched and listened to his cousins with great interest. Most people listen to our cousins with great interest. The Peter Carruths are a very intellectual family; they have a diverse collection of college degrees, but share the same extreme interest in pop culture. If you wanted to know the inner workings of current events they would be excellent to ask. If you are unsure of what episode of Seinfeld caused the series' first catch phrase to enter the American Conversation - they could tell you. If you are wondering what joke, of what episode caused 3oRock to win it's last emmy they could tell you. Wondering who the newest indie rock band to have a song anywhere on the American Billboard? Well - just ask the Peter Carruths. I continue to be amazed by my cousins. Spending time with them is always lively. Max laughed and giggled and refused to take a nap - sleep would mean that he missed some action. So here's to you Peter Carruth Family:
Max and Tyler are going to start catching up now. Maybe in 16 years they will have caught-up and be ready to fully participate in family reunion conversations. Scott, Laurie, Mike, Erica, Dave, Mindy, Dina, and all the cute little kids - We think you are Great!

First Christmas and First Words
Max had a great first Christmas. We spent Christmas Eve with Gramie in Fresno and Christmas Day in Arizona with Grandpa and Grandma Lloyd. Max went to sleep in Fresno and woke up in Payson, Arizona. His Daddy was a determined driver. On Christmas Evan walked into the bedroom where Max was, Max looked at him and said: Dad-e. It was the best Christmas present Evan could have gotten.
